Brisbane Airport

Brisbane Airport, despite having the word “airport” in its name, is actually a suburb and is located 14km northeast away from the Business central business district. The suburb is surrounded by Nudgee, Banyo, Nudgee Beach, Port of Brisbane, Pinkenba, Eagle Farm, Hendra, Hamilton, Northgate, and Nundah.

Majority of the suburb is occupied by the Brisbane Airport. Both the Airport Drive and Moreton Drive link the airport with the Gateway Motorway. The land that is occupied by the Brisbane airport was originally part of the suburbs of Eagle Farm and Pinkenba.

In 2011, Rachel Nila, the Queensland Minister for Finance, Natural Resource, and the Arts, published an official notice amending the boundaries of Eagle Farm, Pinkenba, and Hamilton to establish the new suburb of Brisbane Airport.

Brisbane Airport is home to both Skygate Airport Village and Airport Industrial Park. The Domestic Terminal railway station and International Terminal railway station provide access to commuter railway services. Airtrain services are privatised and are integrated with the Citytrain commuter rail network. TransLink fares that are government-subsidised are exempted from Airtrain services. There is also an inter-terminal bus connecting the two terminal, and the Skygate Shopping Precinct including DFO and Novotel Hotel.
